Scam Prevention & Safety

How to spot fraud and keep your vehicle shipment safe.

How do I check a company is legitimate?

Find its MC or USDOT number and look it up on safer.fmcsa.dot.gov, or use our Red Flag Checker. Its authority should be active and the name should match.

What are common warning signs?

A quote far below others, pressure to pay a large deposit right away, no written contract, no MC or USDOT number, payment requests by gift card, wire or crypto, and a company name that doesn't match its license.

What is a bait-and-switch?

A company quotes a low price to win your booking, then raises it close to pickup. Protect yourself with a written, guaranteed price.

What should I check at delivery?

Inspect the car in good light before signing, compare it with your pickup photos, and write any new damage on the Bill of Lading.

I think I've been scammed. What now?

Stop further payments, contact your bank or card issuer, file a complaint with the FMCSA National Consumer Complaint Database, and leave an honest review to warn others.
